Forged in the West. Built for the Future.

From the heart of Colorado, Rocky Mountain Steel Mills is shaping the backbone of North America, mile by mile. With over a 150 years of steelmaking tradition and a future powered by renewable energy, we deliver the strength to move industries forward.

A Mill With a Mission

At Rocky Mountain Steel Mills, steelmaking isn’t just what we do. It’s who we are. For generations, we've been a proud part of Pueblo, making the rail that keeps people moving and the steel that shapes the places we live and work. Now, we’re combining that legacy with modern, sustainable manufacturing to lead the industry into what’s next.

Innovation In Action

We’re not just making steel. We’re rethinking how it’s made.

  • Electric Arc Furnace (EAF): 100 percent of our steel is made using EAF technology, producing 75 percent fewer CO₂ emissions than traditional (blast furnace) methods

  • Bighorn Solar: 750,000 on-site solar panels provide up to 95 percent of the mill’s electricity, making Pueblo the first and largest solar-powered steel mill in the world

  • Top 10: Ranked corporate solar adopter in the U.S. and #1 in manufacturing

  • Vertically Integrated: From scrap to finished product, we control the full value chain for our products

02

Built for the Future of Transport

We’re helping pioneer a safer, more resilient rail network with domestic steel:

  • A 150-year legacy of steel rail production for America’s railroads

  • $1bn investment to build the most advanced long rail facility in the world

  • World-class head-hardening and an unrivaled testing suite to offer only the highest quality, most durable rail

03

Rooted in Pueblo. Built to Last.

Rocky Mountain Steel Mills has supported lifelong careers for more than 150 years, making Pueblo a city built on steel and pride. Today, we:

  • Directly employ over 1,200 people and support more than 10,000 direct and indirect jobs

  • Recycle nearly 1 million tons of scrap each year, making us the largest recycler in Colorado

  • Have contributed more than $600 million in local investment impacts
